Home Of Soleil! - My Rambling, Unfiltered Review (and Why You NEED to Go!)

Okay, let's be honest, finding the perfect hotel in Тагатай is like trying to wrestle a bear with a toothpick. Seriously, the choices are overwhelming. But after spending a week basking in the 'Home Of Soleil' (which, let me tell you, the name totally lives up to), I feel like I can finally offer some real, unfiltered intel. Prepare yourselves, because this might be a long one.

First things first: Accessibility. SEO.) I'm not a wheelchair user, but I did notice some really thoughtful touches. Elevators, thankfully! And the staff seemed genuinely helpful if anyone needed assistance. I’m not fully aware of all the specific features, but from my observations, they tried.

Cleanliness and Safety – Seriously Impressive!

This is where Home Of Soleil really shines, especially considering the… well, the world we live in. They take cleanliness seriously. I’m talking anti-viral cleaning products, daily disinfection in common areas, and staff trained in safety protocol. I saw them literally wiping down everything, including the handrails every hour. I was impressed! They even had sanitizer stations scattered everywhere, and the hand sanitizer smelled surprisingly good (not that industrial alcohol whiff you sometimes get). They even have room sanitization opt-out, which is pretty cool if you're into that. There was also a doctor/nurse on call. Knowing that they had a first aid kit available was reassuring, and the hot water, linen, and laundry washing were definitely above and beyond. The fact that they use professional-grade sanitizing services and the individually-wrapped food options was definitely something to note. Safe and sound!

The Rooms: My Own Little Oasis

My room? Pure bliss. My room had everything. I had Wi-Fi [free] and I can tell you, it performed as advertised. Air conditioning? Definitely. A window that opens (crucial for fresh air, especially after too much vodka… just kidding… mostly). A bathtub, bathrobes, all the usual suspects. I’m a sucker for a good blackout curtain and these did the trick - the sun can be brutal in Tagatay and these made a world of difference for the after-dark naps. It also had a mini bar (a Godsend after a long day exploring. Oh, and the complimentary tea was a nice touch. They do have a Safe box, and I recommend using it to just be sure. And, just so you know, there were non-smoking rooms.

One thing I absolutely loved? My desk! I brought work with me (I know, I know, “vacation”), and It was spacious and comfortable. There was even a laptop workspace. And the Internet access – wireless worked reliably (even though, honestly, I mostly wanted to just relax!). Honestly, it was a real haven. The daily housekeeping was great too. They keep the room spotless, change everything, and leave the door like a new place.

Dining: From Simple to Spectacular

Okay, food. The restaurant scene at Home of Soleil is its own adventure. They have several restaurants, including a vegetarian restaurant. I'm not veggie myself, but it was popular enough to make me consider it. They also have Asian cuisine in restaurant and Western cuisine in restaurant. You name it, they have it.

Breakfast [buffet]? The breakfast [buffet] was a highlight. There was everything! Asian breakfast, Western breakfast, the works. My favorite part? The coffee/tea in restaurant. They really knew how to make a proper espresso - essential for waking me up in the morning. They also offer breakfast in room if you're feeling lazy.

Now, the A la carte in restaurant was chef's kiss. One night, I had the most amazing seafood pasta. Just wow! The staff were incredibly helpful with suggestions and food choices. The fresh salads and desserts were also notable. The Poolside bar was great in particular, because I could have a drink and watch the sea – perfect.

Things to Do (and Relaxing Like a Boss)

So, beyond simply eating and dwelling in my lovely room, what could I do? Swimming pool? Yes! The swimming pool [outdoor] was just stunning, with views for days. I spent hours lounging there, sipping cocktails. They also had a pool with view.

Spa, Sauna, and Steamroom: Pure. Bliss. I spent a solid afternoon rotating through these – a serious detox after, um, extensive 'research' of the local cocktail scene. They have some amazing options, included Body scrubs and Body wraps. I opted for the massage – I didn't want to ever leave!

The Fitness center was well-equipped, though I’m not the type to break a sweat on vacation, so I mainly glanced in the window. They also have a gym/fitness center.

For the Kids (and the Babysitters!)

I didn't have any kids with me, but I noticed they had Kids facilities, and a babysitting service. Family-friendly, definitely!

Services and Conveniences:

  • Concierge: Super helpful, especially for arranging excursions.
  • Daily housekeeping: As mentioned, they kept everything sparkling.
  • Cash withdrawal: Good to know you can take cash, as I love buying souvenirs.
  • Laundry service: Very handy, considering I spilled something on my favorite shirt.
  • Car park [free of charge] The car park [on-site] and Valet parking made everything easy.
  • Wi-Fi [free]: Absolutely essential.
  • Business facilities. I don’t really care them but they are there.
  • Air conditioning in public area: I wasn't using it, but it felt nice knowing it was there.

Getting Around

They can arrange airport transfers and taxi service. I didn’t use the car, but I did find bicycle parking.

Okay, the Quirks! (And Why You'll Love It)

Look, no place is perfect. Sometimes, the soundproofing in the rooms wasn't quite perfect, and I could hear faint sounds of… well, things. But honestly? It added to the charm. This place is still amazing. I got to know the staff a little bit – especially the bartender at the pool – and she made me feel like part of the family. They are so friendly and genuinely care about making your stay special.

The Imperfections!

I will mention: there was a glitch with the television once. I was not too happy, but the staff fixed it immediately. It was a minor one, I am sure it was nothing, just a minor thing and they fixed it immediately.

In a Nutshell… and My Unsolicited Recommendation!

Home Of Soleil isn't just a hotel; it's a feeling. It's the feeling of being pampered, relaxed, and truly cared for. It's a place where you can escape the everyday and recharge your batteries.

Home Of Soleil at SM Wind Tagaytay Philippines

Alright, товарищи! Let's try to wrangle this Tagaytay trip into something remotely resembling a plan. Forget your pristine, perfectly-formatted itineraries. We're aiming for something that feels… well, like life. Here's my attempt at wrangling Home of Soleil, SM Wind Residences, and my sanity (wish me luck):

(Day One): The Great Escape (and the Coffee-Fueled Fear)

  • 07:00: Alarm screams. Why do I do this to myself? Snatches of sleep, fueled by that late-night "one-more-episode" Netflix binge (Russian whispers: Vot tak! That’s how it is!) The first thought is always: Kofe! Davai! (Coffee! Come on!) Instant coffee, mind you, because who has time for a proper brew at 7 AM? Panic sets in when I realize I haven’t packed half the stuff.
  • 07:30: Attempt at a 'healthy' breakfast, which translates to a banana that's seen better days. Eto chto? (What is this?) I throw in my bag a forgotten packet of "Medved" chocolates – you know, for energy.
  • 08:00: Traffic. Metro Manila traffic! My mood immediately sours. The car smells vaguely of stale chips and impending doom. Proklatyi dorogi! (Accursed roads!). I swear, I could probably walk to Tagaytay faster. We're going to be late.
  • 09:30 (ish): FINALLY! We arrive at SM Wind Residences. My jaw literally drops. The photos online don't do it justice. The view… oh, the damn view. The Taal Volcano peeking through the clouds… it's breathtaking. For a moment, all the stress of the morning evaporates. It's like walking into a postcard.
  • 10:00-12:00: Check-in, unpack, and… well, stare at the view. My inner Russian grandmother emerges: " Chort vozmi, krasivo!" (Damn, beautiful!). I start getting the feeling that this will be good. The accommodation is a little cold but it has a nice view and this is gonna have a good effect on my soul.
  • 12:00 - 13:00: Lunch hunting. The sheer quantity of restaurants in Tagaytay is, frankly, overwhelming. We end up at a very touristy place. The food is… okay. Salty and full of oil. My first official razochariovanie (disappointment) of the trip. It makes me think about how my own cooking is probably comparable.
  • 13:00 - 14:00: Wind down. I go through the room and sit next to the window, and I start thinking "Why didn't I come here sooner? " So the view and fresh air is everything!
  • 14:00 - 16:00: Exploration time! We wander around the area, feeling the breeze and taking pictures of everything. The air… is cool. I find a nice, small cafe. Some coffee and a snack. Maybe I get a little too much coffee.
  • 16:00 - 18:00: Back at the condo. Nap? Maybe. More staring at the view? Absolutely. I read a book for a bit, the wind rustling the pages and the sun doing its thing. Pure bliss.
  • 18:00 - 20:00: Dinner. Finding a more authentic place to eat takes some searching, but it's worth it. Delicious Pinoy food… almost as good as babushka's cooking (sorry, Babushka!). The conversation flows, and the laughter feels authentic.
  • 20:00 onwards: Stargazing from the balcony. Trying to identify the constellations. Failing miserably. Wrapping up in a blanket, talking, and the occasional reflective pause.

(Day Two): Beyond the View (and the Hangover)

  • 09:00: Okay, kofe again. And… a headache. Pyyyts. (Ugh!) Maybe that second glass of wine last night wasn’t such a great idea. My brain feels like it's been through the grinder.

  • 09:30: Breakfast. We're attempting to be "healthy" this morning.

  • 10:00-12:00: Let's face it, the view is all-consuming. We go for a walk. We find a scenic spot and take some pictures. I want to buy a new camera, I think.

  • 12:00 - 13:00: Lunch someplace slightly less touristy. My mood is a little better, which is good. I'm enjoying my meal.

  • 13:00 - 15:00: This is what I've been waiting for: going for the long drive again. I get that it's worth it, and I enjoy it. This is really good!

  • 15:00 - 17:00: Back at the condo. More relaxing. I write in my journal and think about life and the universe. I think, "This trip is actually great!".

  • 17:00-18:00: Packing. Ugh. The reality of going back home hits, and I'am not ready. My mood plummets.

  • 18:00 - 20:00: Final dinner. We choose the place we liked the most. I'm happy.

  • 20:00 onwards: Departure. The drive back isn't as bad as I feared. I'm thinking and I'm feeling.

  • Final Thoughts: This trip was… messy, real, and wonderful. Definitely some kofe needs, but the memory is something I can treasure forever.

  • Post-Mortem: Time to sleep and wake up for work. Back to the grind, but at least I have pictures.

Home Of Soleil.
